Established on September 1, 1955, Japan Consulting Institute (JCI) has been providing with consulting services in developing countries for the establishment of industrialized economy. There are growing demand for such services, in particular on industrial technologies to promote project formation, technical cooperation and assistance in developing nations in their endeavor to improve social infrastructure.

The focus of JCI's operations, further shifted to economic cooperation to meet the changing modern world. Presently, JCI also plays important roles in supervising and monitoring of plant construction, operation and maintenance, in line with Japanese Government policy of enhancing international collaboration and promoting economic and technological cooperation.

JCI is also actively promoting plant renovation, technology transfer, environmental protection and other projects to solve problems faced in developing countries. JCI hopes to form close ties with European, the USA and NIE's organizations from the feasibility study stage, in order to provide the most efficient consulting services possible.

JCI's consulting capability and performance has been highly praised not only by foreign governments and public organizations, but also by international organizations such as the World Bank, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) as well as Japanese organizations such as METI, JICA, JBIC and other ODA executing organizations.
